In what appears as Saint Paul School of Professional Studies’ (SPSPS) equivalent of a popular local TV station reality show, Pinoy Big Brother (PBB), the Bahay ni Kuya Program (Banku) of SPSBL housed some 12 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Board Exam reviewees for the October 2015 licensure examination, and successfully produced this same number. Housemates were top-ranking and high-performing March 2015 BS Accountancy graduates who were privileged to avail of the school’s maiden “edition” of the assistance program.
The successful examinees are: Abigail Ricardo Amparado, Michael Andrew Cruz Avenido, Erwin Shane Duellosa Dueñas, Lexan Grace Manook Panganoron, Christian Marilao Laurente, Mae Antonette Dumanhog Torgane, Brenda Baguinon Abrezosa, Mary Glenis Chua Hortelano, Nelson Clyde Labaclado Villanueva, Virgil Kit Agustin Hilvano Abanilla, Raymund Bellezas Cabidog, and Arfred Morilla Llames.
A brainchild of Board Chair and President Erwin Vincent Alcala, the Banku aims to cultivate “A” students’ intrinsic capacities, empower their capabilities to think critically by offering them basic support in their stay in Manila and in their review classes. With BSA as the school’s flagship program (11 others are on business , real estate management, and law), it is through such brand of personalized touch of student support that SPSPS has humbly gained national recognition as fourth top producer of CPAs (May 2015) in the country, now as Top 10 Performing School in the country for the Accountancy Program.
The Banku especially caters to the growing demands of preparing for the grueling CPA licensure exam. Any accountancy graduate who has been a consistently top-performing student from 1st year to 5th year and has had a good scholastic record is consequently considered as a prospect for the program. This group of prospects is then further evaluated by the chair, vice chair, and senior faculty of the Accountancy Department. The evaluators also ensure that each of the students has not been called for sanctions under any school department or office, and that he/she has behaved in accordance with the SPSPS Core Values.
When a pool of qualifiers shall have been confirmed by the evaluators, the list is submitted to the School President for his final approval. Those who finally qualify for the program will enjoy a number perquisites. They stay in a fully air-conditioned Executive Townhouse which will be their home as they prepare for the licensure exam in their chosen review center; food will be provided; and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) transports them every day to and from their review centers. – With Report From AA Erpe.
