Faculty of Law

The Juris Doctor (JD) Program is a professional doctorate degree conferred to graduates of the basic law course. It follows an expanded law curriculum that includes both core Bar subjects and relevant elective subjects designed to provide students with a well-rounded legal education and extensive preparation for the Bar examinations. It is further enhanced by the Clinical Legal Education Program (CLEP), an “experiential, interactive and reflective” course that provides students with the necessary skills for the eventual practice of law and inculcates socially conscious values for their role in the community.

Qualifications

Students enrolling in the JD program must possess strong dedication toward their studies, discipline, in managing their time, consistent and effective study habits, ability to work hard and work well under pressure, good oral and written communication skills, critical, analytic and creative thinking, and social orientation and commitment.

Career Opportunities

Through the combined JD and CLEP curriculum, students gain actual and practical understanding of the practice of law through “direct and personal” involvement in addressing legal problems and situations, consistent with SPSPS’ core values, thus equipping them with the technical competence and moral fitness to pursue a career in the legal profession.
