SPSPS reinforces its commitment to 7s Policy

As part of its efforts to promote cleanliness and sustainability, Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS), through the 7S Implementation Unit, spearheaded a 7S Housekeeping Assembly on Friday, November 15.

Participated by school officials, faculty, and staff, the event primarily aimed to strengthen the commitment of its workforce to continue upholding the 7S policy (formerly 5S)โ€”Sort, Systematize, Sweep, Standardize, Sustain, Safety, and Spirit as classes for 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2024-2025 begins next week, Monday.

In his talk, School President Dr. Erwin Vincent G. Alcala, CPA, provided a comprehensive overview of the policy’s background and emphasized its critical role in maintaining a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in the workplace.

Pres. Alcala urged both employees and students to continue their commitment to adhering to the policy.

“We need to refresh our minds when it comes to the policy…baka kase nakakalimutan na natin yung standards ng policy (we might be forgetting the standards of the policy). Through our 7S policy, we maintain a conducive environment not just for us employees but also for our students and guests,” said Pres. Alcala.

During the assembly, SPSPS presented a 7S Audit Committee composed of faculty, staff, and students. This committee is organized into smaller groups, with each group assigned to audit different areas across the campus, including various offices and common spaces.

According to Pres. Alcala, the committee members are tasked with conducting thorough assessments of these areas, identifying areas that need improvement, and ensuring that all standards of the 7S Policy are being met.

Each group will submit a detailed audit report outlining the necessary corrective actions and verifying compliance with the policy’s guidelines.

SPSPS adapted the 5s on February 1, 2013. The institution modified it to fit the school setting and became 7S.

To recall, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) recognized SPSPS as the Cleanest School Campus in Eastern Visayas in 2017.

The institution has made and continues to progress toward becoming an environmentally conscious institution by supporting environmental initiatives such as the institution’s 7S Policy, Tree Planting, and No Plastic Policy.
