SPSPS OFFERS BS IN MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING PROGRAM
Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS) added the Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting (BSMA) to its roster of accounting-related degree programs after it received a green light from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office VIII on October 25, 2023.
According to CHED, SPSPS will be the first private Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Eastern Visayas to offer the program.
Set to accept enrollees for Academic Year 2024-2025, the new undergraduate degree program integrates principles of accounting, finance, and business management to equip students with a comprehensive skill set for analyzing financial information and making strategic business decisions.
Upon completion of the BSMA program, graduates can take the Global Certification Exams such as the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and can explore various career paths in private institutions and government offices, including roles such as Financial Analyst, Accounting Manager, Budget Analyst, or Treasury and Payroll Manager.
STRENGTHENED PARTNERSHIP WITH IMA
Only recently, the institution inks partnership with the Institute of Management of Accountants, the worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals in business. SPSPS became the third institution in the entire Philippines to partner with IMA along with National University (NU) and University of the Cordilleras.
With this collaboration, students pursuing professional accounting degrees in SPSPS can experience enhanced educational opportunities and resources.
According to the Vice Dean of Accountancy Programs, Alberto S. Malquisto Jr., students of BSMA have the opportunity to bolster their skills by becoming members of the IMA Student Chapter of the institution.
“[BSMA] students can join the IMA Student Chapter in SPSPS where they can avail leadership webinars, mentoring programs, career guidance and support,” said Malquisto.
By immersing the students to industry best practices, the BSMA program prepares its graduates to confront challenges and seize opportunities from emerging trends.
EXPANDED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES
As one of the country’s top producers of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and business professionals, the leap to offer a new degree is SPSPS’ approach to continue providing quality education through its broad range of degree programs with enhanced curriculum attuned to the ever-growing demands in business and accounting landscape.
AVP for Academic Programs, Research and Faculty Advancement, Prof. Eleanor R. Chuca expressed that this new degree program opens the door to opportunities for students to expand their options in choosing accounting-related degrees.
“I’m glad that we have added another program to our list. More chances for our students to choose what course to take up with us in college. Students will be learning more about accounting and management,” said Prof. Chuca.
Currently, programs offered by SPSPS are Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), Bachelor of Science in Information System (BSAIS), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Management (BSREM), Juris Doctor (JD), and Senior High School (SHS).
SPSPS also offers a review program and refresher courses such as CPA Review Program, CPA Refresher Course, and JD Refresher Course.
