Saint Paul School of Professional Studies (SPSPS) joins the nationwide observance of the 48th National Disability Rights Week through an activity held at the Conrita Tiu-Tudtud (CTT) Hall today, July 22.
Organized by the Center for Health Services & Wellness, the activity features an information drive, advocacy flyer and poster displays, and a Pledge of Inclusion, encouraging members of the Paulinian community to uphold the rights, dignity, and equal participation of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
This year’s observance carries the theme, “Rights First, Legislation Forward: Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development,” highlighting the need to strengthen policies, remove barriers, and create opportunities that enable PWDs to actively participate in all aspects of society.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), approximately 1.44 million Filipinos, or 1.3% of the country’s population, are persons with disabilities, underscoring the importance of building communities where accessibility, equity, and inclusion are translated into meaningful action.
Beyond raising awareness, the observance serves as a reminder that SPSPS has a shared responsibility to promote an academic environment where every individual is respected, empowered, and given equal opportunities to learn, lead, and thrive.
